Introduction
This Site Map gives a brief description of each of the sections in this Web Site. Under each major sections are numerous subsections. These subsections appear as links on the left side of the page.
The Major Sections of this Web Site are:
Team. Members of the InHCc Team
Background. Philosophy of Site, Objectives, and History of Site The objective of this Section is to use the information in the other sections to build a "real actual working Application." This section details the steps needed and the philosophy behind the construction of the Health Management Information system...
This Section Will try not to repeat the discussions that have been given in previous sections but will only refer back to them in hyperlinks.
This site will have two sections...at least...of the Benefits of an Healthcare Information System. This section, the first section, will discuss the functions/benefits of any system and in general are derived from good Business practices. We continuously stress in this site that anything done with a computer can be done manually...it just takes a lot longer. It is how you use Information that is important.
There are some times that I read something that someone has written about that to me just sounds stupid...at 2:00 in the morning, I wake up with this burning urge to "Right a Wrong"...and this is where it happens...At least until I have time to create a real "Blog" Items of Interest
InHCc Healthcare Management Information System. Our World Class Healthcare Management Information software Application.
Other Information Sections are:
Healthcare Economics and Reform. Our discussion must begin with Health Economics. Very few decisions can be made unless there is an understanding of the market forces that influence health care.
Health Care Management. Discussion of management issues in the Management of Public Health Organizations.
Health Informatics. This Section discusses the use of information in health care organizations in general and gives a brief introduction to each of the technologies available for use. For a more detailed description of a particular technology, link to other Sections.
Information Management. Information Management is about managing Information, it is not about Information systems.
Monitoring and Evaluation. Means different things to different people...
Financial Management Unless you can understand a financial statement, how costs are incurred and how to control these costs...you cannot be much of a manager. It seems that, indeed, many people believe that because they have a Md. or PhD that it qualifies them to run a "business" which is exactly what the health organization is. Standardization. Standardization has been included in its own section because it is such a large topic and has the current focus in health care. This sections deals with the various coding systems that are being promoted Quality of Care. An introduction to the theory of health care
Indicators and Quality Improvement Efforts. Looks at some of the indicators used for performance measure and quality care issues. This sector also reviews the efforts made to create certification and compliance standards Information Systems. This Section discusses the use of information in health care organizations in general and gives a brief introduction to each of the technologies available for use. For a more detailed description of a particular technology, link to other Sections. Computerized Patient Record. Ok...so just what is it...? Business Intelligences The world of making sense out of all the data...The database, Data Analysis (OLAP), Data Mining and and Research...My all time favorite...but there is just too much of it.
International Development. We will attempt to discuss some differences and similarities between viewpoints and policies in different systems and how this effects the management "style". Donors and NGO's are also discussed. Surveillance Systems. Surveillance and public health what Healthcare Information Systems should be doing more
Nutrition. Not very often built into the system...and probably one of the most important functions that a healthcare organization should be doing for their population. I like this short story!
Managed Care. Although many different methods have been proposed, the most efficient and effective is Managed Care. Manage Care is the controlled care of a client throughout his are her lifetime. A Managed Care System requires a lot of information and a lot of it....no this is not a mistake. The System requires a lot of different types of information from many different sources and a lot of it. Many countries today control the health care of their population, especially, the poorer members. This governmental care can be the beginning of a very efficient and effective system. It depends on how it is Managed...Managed Care. Assessing HIM Systems. This subject moves too fast
Examples and Case Studies . Examples providing a number of real life projects procedures and application programs that can be used in health care organizations. Many examples may be downloaded directly (some in a pdf file). Case Studies and examples are always fun to read. The hope is, is that they will also be instructive.
Links to other relevant sites, job markets, resources and much more...This is almost impossible to keep up with!!!
And I am sure that there is more...just haven't gotten around to indexing everything!
